First-timer FAQ

Do I need to have lifting experience to join?
icon

No! All levels are welcome. We have dumbbells from 2kg to 40kg, so people of all strength levels can find a challenge at Lift Lake. One of our differentiating points is that our trainers really take their time to explain form, and give you feedback during class, so it is a great environment for beginners.

I'm pre / post natal - can I still join?
icon

As long as your doctor has approved you working out: our classes are great for pre and post natal because the pace is slow and focused (not HIIT), and the intensity is up to you (how heavy the weights you choose are). So there is a lot of flexibility for different experiences within the class. Always tell the trainer if you are preganant or post natal so they can give you modifications where needed (particularly with the core section at the end).

Is Lift Lake only for women?
icon

No, men are absolutely welcome!

How can I book?
icon

You can download the Lift Lake app (available on Apple and Google) or online through B.Sport.

What is the cancellation policy?
icon

If you cancel more than 12 hours in advance, you will get your credit back. If you cancel less than 12 hours before class, your credit will still be deducted.

Why are grip socks mandatory?
icon

We have concrete floors that can be slippery if you're not careful. Also, if you're doing an exercise off the bench it can be a bit slippery. The grip socks give you the best and safest experience of the class.

Do you have showers?
icon

Unfortunately, we do not have showers. However, because the class is not a heated class and not a HIIT class, you will (likely) not get overly sweaty. In case this helps you plan: we hear from many clients that they don't feel the need to wash their hair after class!

Do you have air conditioning?
icon

Yes! Our studio is nice and cool all summer.
