OUR ORIGIN STORY
Why Lift Lake?
Megan never liked the gym, or sports in general, and never felt confident in her body. That changed when she started working with a personal trainer: how she carried herself, how she saw her body, and how she felt both physically and emotionally.
What really changed? She could measure her strength. Every week the weight she lifted went up, and her confidence rose with it. She felt strong, calm, and sure of her own body in a way she hadn’t before.
Around the same time, she started noticing more research coming out about how important muscle is for almost every aspect of health and longevity, especially for women (who start naturally losing muscle mass starting in their 30s without strength training).
She wanted to train more, but couldn’t find the right fit. Personal training is expensive. A regular gym can be intimidating. And most group classes felt more like a rave: loud, dark, high intensity, and best attended with earplugs.
Nothing existed that felt like training with a personal trainer, just done as a group: slower paced, focused on form, and built around progressive overload — adding weight steadily over time.
So Megan opened the studio she couldn’t find anywhere else, with the hope of helping people build muscle, gain confidence, and age better.
And why the name Lift Lake? She wanted to combine the strength of a lift with the serenity associated with a lake: a beautiful place where people gather. That’s what Lift Lake has become.
